VET NURSES
Lynn Roper
Lynn began Vet Nursing in her home town of St Annes in Lancashire, England. She emigrated to Australia with her husband David in June 1989, and commenced work at Waverley Animal Hospital in January 1990.
Lynn is now the Practice Manager, and loves a chat with all the clients that she has got to know so well over the years. She has a ragdoll cat named Saffi who at the moment is being terrorized by Remi, her new Italian Greyhound puppy.
Lynn has two sons – James and Daniel – and her most treasured interest is spending time with her family. They enjoy going out for meals, picnics at Jells Park, and going away for holidays.
Jo Jobling
Jo started veterinary nursing early in 2000, and joined Waverley Animal Hospital in October 2001. She has a Diploma of Applied Science in Animal Technology (completed in 1999). Jo completed Certificate II & III in Veterinary Nursing in 2005, and is currently studying Certificate IV. She has a particular interest in surgical nursing and anaesthesia.
Jo is the Headmistress of Puppy Preschool at Waverley Animal Hospital.
Jo lives with her husband Darren, cat Millie and Gilbert the young Boxer who had a rough start to life when hit by a car at 16 weeks of age breaking both his front legs.
Jo enjoys renovating her house, being involved with her husband's baseball team - The Mulgrave Rebels - and is an avid North Melbourne supporter.
Jen Fox
Jen was a medical receptionist and pathology nurse before joining us in July 2001. She has completed Certficates II & III in Veterinary Nursing. She particularly enjoys surgical nursing, and runs the Post-Surgical Rehabilitation Program and Kitten Adoption Program. Jen takes Puppy preschool classes on Wednesday evenings and also works with Denis Mc Grory at 4 Paws dog obedience.
Jen enjoys taking Oscar the Labrador X to the beach, playing with Gus the cat (adopted from the Kitten Adoption program), catching up with friends, keeping fit and cooking.
She will be taking a break in late 2009 to have her first child.
Sarah Oliver
Sarah hails from Ballarat, where she completed her VCE in 2001. She started working with us in November 2002, having been a checkout operator at Safeway in the interim. Sarah has her Certificate II in Veterinary Nursing from Box Hill Tafe, and her interests include surgical cases and patient care. Additionally, she manages the Boarding Cattery, runs the Weight Loss Clinic and assists Jen with the Post Surgical Rehabilitation Program.
Sarah married Ben on 1st April 2006 and they share their house with Ford, a female cat. Sarah enjoys dancing and reading, and loves to attend musical theatre.
Jane Sparke
Jane began her career working for a stock broker at the Old Stock Exchange. She gave up work when she had her first daughter and was a stay-at-home mum until after son Ben and daughter Nellie were born. With the kids at school, Jane began working part-time for her brother-in-law, who owned a large boarding kennels in Glen Waverley. She was a receptionist and bookkeeper here for a number of years, often filling in full-time while her sister and brother-in-law took holidays. It was at the kennels that Jane met Dr Chris Hardham, who was the attending vet at the time.
Jane commenced work at Waverley Animal Hospital in February 1992 as a receptionist and veterinary nurse, and has been with us ever since! She now manages the accounts, as well as continuing part-time reception work.
Jane's hobbies are painting and art. Jane lives with her husband Garry and Reggie the spoodle.
She loves to spend time at her beach house at Phillip Island and adores spending time with her children and four grandchildren – William, Thomas, Sebastian and Stephanie. Jane has two grandpets – Chester the Spoodle and Willis the cat – who live part-time with her when daughter Nellie comes to visit.
Anne Farrington
Anne started work at Waverley Animal Hospital in March 2003 on a part-time basis. She worked in public relations for eight years prior to taking time off to become a mother. Her daughter Claire has grown up with an array of animals as pets including birds, rabbits and reptiles.
The Farrington household is a busy one, with Mo the blue tongue lizard, Mini the cat (adopted from Waverley Animal Hospital's Kitten Adoption Program) and Ziggy the Doberman vying for Anne and Claire's attention! Away from work, Anne enjoys motorbike riding, socialising with friends and weekends away with partner Steve.
Claudine Neylon-Gray
Claudine started Vet Nursing in 1995, and has completed a Certificate in Animal Studies and Certificates II & III in Vet Nursing. She joined Waverley Animal Hospital in August 2000.
Claudine has two pets – Ollie the cat (reared from 3 weeks of age and adopted through the Kitten Adoption Program) and Harry the Hound-cross. Claudine spends most of her time looking after her young family – Noah and Charlotte.
Andy Carroll
Andy is fresh out of year 12 and working with animals as a career has always been her goal.
Pyro the Corgi X keeps her fit and on her toes and in her spare time Andy loves riding and training her two horses Billy and Lochi. As a St Kilda fan, she enjoys her footy as well as the occasional session of basketball against her two brothers.
Vet nursing has provided new experiences and challenges for Andy and she is thoroughly enjoying working at the clinic.
